This session explored the theme “Rural Urbanity, Urban Rurality”.
The 2014 edition of the Summer Academies took place on July 17, 18, 19 and 20, 2014. It allowed us to welcome Chris Younes philosopher, Magali Paris landscape architect and researcher, Daniela Poli architect-urban planner-researcher in the team of Alberto Magnaghi, Brigitte Nougarèdes sociologist and SupAgro teacher, Xavier Guillot architect teaching network rural space project, Vincent Jannot national delegate Terre de Liens and many facilitators for the workshops.
The workshops and conferences addressed several issues:
- Sprawl or densification raises the question of what is “inhabiting the earth”?
- How is urban man’s relationship to natural and nourishing space changing?
- Are urbanisation models applicable to rural areas?
Centrist urbanization seeks to re-densify and does not imagine the possibility of a redistribution of densities. New social, economic, cultural and spatial alliances are to be developed. The multi-functionality of the countryside must be combined with a viable, liveable and enviable habitat,
respecting local particularities and the existence of the place, creating a heritage for tomorrow and the common good.
